Get Smart Wausau Coalition

Are you struggling to make ends meet or not able to make your monthly payments? If so, you are not alone and we are here to help.

The Get Smart Wausau Coalition is a volunteer group of Educators, Financial Institutions, Media, Non-Profit Organizations, Municipal/Government and Other businesses working to bring free or low-cost financial education in the Greater Wausau Wisconsin area to anyone looking for ways to better manage their money.


LAPSED PROGRAMS

Money Smart

A program of 10 instructor-led training modules covered basic financial topics. The topics include: Bank on It - an introduction to bank services; Borrowing Basics an introduction to credit; Check It Out - how to choose and keep a checking account; Money Matters - how to keep track of your money; Pay Yourself First - why you should save, save, save; Keep It Safe - your rights as a consumer; To Your Credit - how your credit history will affect your credit future; Charge It Right how to make a credit card work for you; Loan to Own - know what you're borrowing before you buy; and Your Own Home - what home ownership is all about.

Get Checking

Designed for people who wish to open a checking or savings account. The program is designed for people who currently do not have an account with a financial institution, never had an account and don't know how to start, or had problems with an account in the past that is making it difficult to open an account now. Participants will learn how to choose an account, how to balance a checking account, how to establish credit, and how your account relationship can help establish credit.
