Using a variety of
needs assessment processes, strategic goals have been identified
that Marathon County UW-Extension staff will address in 2004 through
2008. Each of our staff members are making contributions to these
goals in some manner.

- 45 4-H Clubs providing community service to their neighborhoods
- Community visioning, public participation in comprehensive

- County resource plans update: public input processes
- 109 UWEX-trained Master Gardener volunteers
- Parenting the First, Second and Third Years newsletters to
1400 families

- Management education for non-industrial private woodland owners

STRATEGIC PLANNING
PROCESS
The Marathon County
UW-Extension staff used a strategic planning process for the 2004-2008
office work plan. Input on the issues facing the county clientele
was taken from broad community data sources, as well as program
specific sources, such as focus groups and surveys. Some of the
