GARDEN WALK 2008 -

Lisa Mages-Greene & Rob Greene - 2603 Fern Lane, Wausau, WI
Lisa and neighbor Michelle Klug have turned the eight foot strip between their driveways into a beautiful shared garden. They removed rock and planted perennials such as coneflowers, yarrow, sedum and two plum trees. A path through a large arbor, covered with porcelain berry vine, now connects the two yards.
Lisa credits Michelle as her inspiration to begin gardening in her own yard. Lisa’s gardens have developed into a delightful landscape filled with a variety of plants. A large maple in the front yard shades the island bed filled with astilbe and lungwort. Many perennials and shrubs including Karl Foerster grass, a giant Joe Pye Weed, Endless Summer hydrangea, cardinal flower and butterfly bush are found in the gardens surrounding the house. Many annuals found in the gardens are started from seed.
Lisa is most interested in providing a habitat for birds and butterflies and chooses plants that attract them. She and Rob also maintain a bubbler for the birds, and water fountains which provide water for beneficial wildlife.
