ABOUT
4-H
What is Marinette County 4-H?
4-H is a dynamic youth organization, for ages 5 to 19, male or
female, whether you live in the city, village or country. You
will have fun, be challenged, learn new things, meet others,
and be an active member of your community. Volunteers will
work with you to plan and carry out a year long program. Getting
your family involved will make your experience even more meaningful.

What is 4-H?
4-H is an organization designed for all urban, city, or rural
boys and girls in grades 3-12. Cloverbuds are for children
ages 5 to grade 3 or 4. Cloversprouts are for children ages
3 to 5.
How Do I Join?
4-H members join a club and "learn by doing" while
working in one or more project area with the help of parents
and adult and youth leaders. A project area can involve animals,
crafts, photography, etc. There are 75 topics to choose from.
By following instructions in the project manual, you will learn
to make or grow something, care for an animal, or learn fascinating
facts about a specific topic.
4-H is a great opportunity to make new friends! Members attend
meetings and can take part in programs, activities, camps, demonstrations,
educational tours and judging contests. The cost is $2 per member
(add an additional $1 if joining the Horse Project). Animal clubs
are an exciting opportunity in Marinette. If you're an admirer
of horses, you can join one of several horse clubs whether you
own an animal or not, learning about how to ride as well as proper
horse care. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and cattle are also very popular.
Camping in Marinette is a fun and exciting part of our 4-H program
and we offer outstanding camping opportunities at our beautiful
campground at Camp Bird. Campers can canoe, swim, do crafts,
learn about nature, and participate in a variety of outdoor sports.
What do the H's stand for?
Head, Heart, Hands, and Health
What is the 4-H Member's Pledge?
" My HEAD to
clearer thinking"
" My HEART to greater loyalty"
" My HANDS to larger service"
" My HEALTH to better living for my club, my community,
my country, and my world"
A club is a group of boys and girls who meet to learn about
various subjects and do activities. In traditional 4-H, clubs
also elect officers and learn about leadership. Leadership also
plays an important part in our 4-H community. 4-H'ers from Marinette
County have been involved in state and national level activities,
such as being delegates to the State 4-H Youth Conference in
Madison, National 4-H Congress, and Citizenship Washington Focus
in Washington, D.C.
Who are the leaders?
Leaders are members of the community who volunteer their time
to help young people. Leaders always need the cooperation and
assistance of members and parents.
