Favorite Foods Revue
Date: Saturday, April 26
Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm
Deadline for Registration: April 18
Location: Milwaukee County UWEX, 932 S. 60th St., West Allis
Download the Entry Form ( 113 KB, 1 page)
Download the Guidelines ( 56 KB, 1 page)
Mark your calendars for this year’s Favorite Foods Revue! Please carefully read over the guidelines and registration entry form (see links above). And be sure to bring or mail in one completed registration form for each 4-H member who will be participating in the competition to the 4-H office no later than 4:00 pm on April 18th.
The judge will determine your award based on your entire entry. For grades 3 & 4, this not only includes their prepared food item but also their recipe written on a card and all of the utensils used in preparing the dish. For grades 5, 6, and 7, be sure to include a copy of the recipe, a menu card, and an appropriate place setting. In addition to the items required by the 5th, 6th, and 7th graders, the entrants in grades 8-12 must also have a center piece or table decoration. Of course, you must also have one serving of the food that the 4-H member prepared him/herself. The judge will most likely taste the food and also ask questions pertaining to where it fits into the food pyramid. Keep in mind that last year the higher awards were given for the most nutritious foods.
One other new addition for this year’s Favorite Foods Revue will be the demonstrations given by some of the committee members throughout the event. You will be able to watch a recipe being prepared and then have a taste when it is finished. There will also be demonstrations on wheat and flour milling, napkin folding and place setting that the children may participate in while waiting before or after judging.
We are looking forward to a fun, educational, and tasty afternoon, so please consider entering this year’s Favorite Foods Revue. If you are unclear about any of your entry requirements, please feel free to call or email one of the committee members for clarification. The contact information is listed below
