The following test bottles
can be obtained at the Oconto County UW-Extension Office. (There is a $3 charge for the sample bottle at the Oconto County UW-Extension office which you will deduct from the sample costs below.)
- Total Coliform Bacteria
- Test the bacteriological safety of a water supply $19.00 (Priority analysis $38)
- Nitrate plus Nitrite-Nitrogen
- These are the most common chemical contaminants in Wisconsin
groundwater. They may also serve as an indicator of the potential
presence of other contaminants, such as pesticides or trace
organic chemicals from septic system effluent. $13.00 (Priority analysis $26)
- pH - Measure of relative
acidity of the water. Useful in assessing the corrosivity of
water to plumbing. $8.00
- Alkalinity - Amount of
bicarbonate, the major anion in water, related to pH and corrosion
$7.00
- Hardness - Measure of
the amount of calcium and magnesium. Important if water softening
is considered. $7.00
- Chloride - An indicator
ion that, if found in elevated concentration, indicates potential
contamination from septic systems, fertilizer, landfills, or
road salt. $8.00
- Conductivity - Measure
of total dissolved mineral in water. Change in conductivity
or unusual ratio of conductivity to hardness may signal presence
of contaminants. $6.00
- Corrosivity Index - The
corrosivity index is a calculation to determine the tendency
of water to be corrosive or scale forming. $22.00
- Homeowner Package - (consists
of the above 8 tests ) $40.00
- Homeowner Package plus Fluoride
- $50.00
- Fluoride when not included with the
Homeowner Package - $15.00
Tests for other chemicals
can be obtained through Oconto County UW-Extension Office and
the UW-Stevens
