A video-based parenting education curriculum Developed by the University of Wisconsin-Extension, the University of Minnesota Extension Service, College of Human Ecology, and the Humphrey Institute's Project Future.

Nurturing and guiding children are the primary tasks of parents.  Guidance requires discipline on occasion, and one of the most perplexing aspects of parenting is the use of physical punishment, or spanking.

"Positive Parenting" is a video-based parenting education curriculum focusing on the consequences of physical punishment and offering parents alternative ways to nurture and discipline their children.

Positive Parenting consists of six lesson units - each consisting of a video segment and parent handouts.  The curriculum is intended especially for parents of pre-school and  elementary school age children.

The programs are offered by Oconto County UW-Extension,
Schools Districts of Oconto and Oconto Falls

This workshop is designed to help you:

Learn positive parenting skills

Meet and talk with other parents

Share practical ideas and real-life experiences

Have fun!

(I liked) "hearing many different views from other parents regarding various situations
and what they do about them."

(I learned) "how to be calm, say things positively I feel more in control of situations."

I plan to) "let kids have a choice in setting limits and what the consequences will be."

My daughter doesn't whine and complain, and the atmosphere is more pleasant at home,
less yelling and complaining"
