One of the required planning elements of the comprehensive plan, the housing element assesses current housing conditions, looks at projections for future housing demand, and develops goals, objectives, and policies to help ensure adequate housing supply and choices for residents of all ages, income levels, and abilities.
In order to more fully explore the housing issues and trends in Racine County, the MJAC opted to form a work group, consisting of representatives from construction, realty, housing organizations, and government agencies.
The Housing Work Group met four times in the spring of 2008, with the element completed at the end of May.
