What is the Racine/Kenosha Nutrition Education Program (RKNEP)?

RKNEP is a UW-Extension Nutrition Education program that helps families and individuals with limited resource:

• increase their knowledge regarding basic nutrition based on the MyPyramid model

• become aware of available resources in the community

• become more food secure by planning

  • Increase their knowledge of basic kitchen skills

  • incorporate daily physical activity in their daily lives

  • increase consumption of fruit and vegetables into their daily diets

The Nutrition Education Program is free of charge to

  • Families or individuals who receive or is eligible to receive Food Share or WIC.

  • And organizations and schools who service this population.

 

WNEP can help participants learn how to:

  • Save more money at the grocery store

  • Plan nutritious and tasty meals

  • Choose the best food for family's health

  • Store food safely and prevent waste

  • Help kids learn to make healthy food choices

  • Use other community resources

RKNEP Nutrition Educators teaches using a variety of methods:

• learn-while-you-wait exhibits/displays

The Racine Kenosha Nutrition Education Program partners with many agencies in providing nutrition education and/or budgeting information to the people they serve:
