University of Wisconsin Extension offers the Master Gardener Training Program, a 60+ hour program that begins mid-September. It covers the basics of horticulture, including classes on woody and herbaceous ornamental plant materials, fruit and vegetable crops, plant diseases and insect pests.
After completing the training program and 24 hours of volunteer service, participants become University of Wisconsin Extension Master Gardeners Volunteers. Acceptance into the program is limited. To receive an application contact Becky Kennedy at (608) 757 5696 or kennedy@co.rock.wi.us. Applications are also available by following the link below.
ATTENDANCE & INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
To earn your MGV certification, you must complete a minimum of 36 hours of training. If you are unable to meet these requirements in a given year, please contact your instructor to discuss your options.
Classes will not be rescheduled due to inclement weather. Please tune into WCLO radio for class cancellation announcements or call (608) 757-5696 before 5pm to determine class status.
If inclement weather (or anything else, for that matter) prevents you from attending, resource materials from the missed class will be available at the following class. Video and audio recording devices are allowed at the discretion of the presenter and are your responsibility to operate.
“Missed class” policy will be discussed during orientation on the first day.
