SAUK COUNTY 4-H AMBASSADOR TEAM

Do you want to have fun while improving your self-confidence, communication skills, leadership skills, and knowledge of 4-H?   Do want to help promote 4-H and let people know what a great organization Sauk County 4-H is?   If you answered yes, then the

Sauk County 4-H Ambassador program is for YOU !

4-H Ambassadors are 4-H member who promote the Sauk County 4-H program to local residents and community groups.   Audiences can include 4-H'ers, school groups, civic organizations, government officials, senior citizens, business people-any individual or group interested in learning more about 4-H!   Here are some things that you could do as an Ambassador:

Events and Activities:

  • Coordinate the 4-H publicity booth at the county fair
  • Emcee county 4-H events, such as the performance arts festival and fall banquet.
  • Coordinate the 4-H Open House in October and day care tours at the county fair.
  • Create and set up 4-H displays and booths at local events, businesses, and libraries

Presentations

  • To community groups and the county board
  • To recruit youth into 4-H at local schools

Publicity and Promotion Tasks

  • Be responsible for county 4-H radio programming during county fair and National 4-H Week
  • Develop videotapes and Power Point presentations showing the wide variety of 4-H activities.
  • Take pictures at countywide 4-H events.
  • Produce public service announcements for radio
  • Write 4-H news releases and features

The length of a term as a 4-H Ambassador is one year, but a youth may serve as an ambassador for as many terms as they desire.   Sauk County 4-H Ambassadors must be in seventh through thirteenth grade.   All Ambassadors must have a sincere desire to promote 4-H, a willingness to interact with the general public, an interest in improving his/her communication skills, a willingness to speak in front of groups, and a commitment of time and energy.

Monthly meetings will be held to help Ambassadors gain skills in the areas of public speaking, news writing, radio, and photography and to plan upcoming events.   The meetings will be held the second Thursday of the month at varying locations around the county.   Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to attend an Ambassador training track at the Wisconsin 4-H and Youth Conference in Madison.

To become an Ambassador, complete and return the ambassador application in October. Face-to-face interviews are held in November.   Up to 10 Ambassadors will be chosen from the applicants.
