Fields sampled are 2nd production year alfalfa fields. Evaluate alfalfa fields on a field-by-field basis. There are growth differences as a result of soil fertility, variety, fall management, and age of stand. Look for opportunities to begin harvesting Memorial Day Weekend, especially away from the lake, for high quality forage. Plant development ranges from late vegetative to early bud. Scissor cut RFQs and PEAQ RFQs are about 15 RFQ points higher than forage coming out of storage. On average we lose roughly 3-4 RFQ points per day.
Thanks
to our sponsors: Sheboygan County Forage Council, Adell
Coop, Kettle Lakes Coop, and Rock River Labs. Samples will
be taken again on Thursday, May 24th and Tuesday, May 29th. For
more information call Mike Ballweg at (920) 467-5742.
