4-H Interviews are for 4-H members in grade 8 and over (by October 1, 2008). This is a great opportunity for you to develop the application and interview skills necessary if you ever plan to apply for a job, try for scholarships, or apply for college. Your 4-H interview, together with your Member Evaluation (ME) Summary for Trip and Award Consideration form, will be used in selecting delegates for trips and awards.

the interview process.

4-H Ambassador
The role of a 4-H Ambassador is to promote 4-H throughout the
county. Ambassadors should have a sincere desire to promote
4-H, willingness to interact with the general public, interest
in improving one's communication skills, willingness to speak
in front of a group, and a commitment of time and energy. Ambassadors
meet once per month and are required to attend a minimum of
eight meetings as well as participate in a variety of promotional
activities. These activities include talking to community groups,
representing 4-H in area parades, recording public service
announcements, writing newspaper articles, visiting clubs or
schools, and assisting with county events. In addition, potential
Ambassadors must have been an active 4-H member for at least
the past two years, have been in Junior Leaders or Youth Leadership
project for one year, have re-enrollment forms turned in on
time, and show leadership skills and self-confidence. Ambassadors
in grades 8–11 are eligible (but not required) to attend
Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference for Ambassador Training.
Winter Camp
District-wide Winter Camp will be held January 30–February 1, 2009 at Crosswoods Camp north of Drummond in Bayfield County. This is a chance to meet 4-Hers from other counties in the Northern District while enjoying a variety of winter activities. Qualifications: be in 8th grade or older as of 10/1/08. Cost of Winter Camp is approximately $65 with the Adult Leaders Association paying the cost for first time attendees and $10 towards the cost for returning attendees. Transportation is provided.
Superior Days
Madison, February 24–26, 2009. Represent Northern Wisconsin as part of the Youth Delegation of Superior Days. Lobby Wisconsin legislators to promote northern Wisconsin and to express specific northern needs and issues. This is a learning experience in state government as well as a chance to tour the State Capitol, job shadow politicians, and meet other youth from Northern Wisconsin. Delegates are expected to attend 4–5 planning/training meetings in Superior prior to the trip to Madison (October 23 at 6 pm, February 5 at 4 pm, other dates TBD). Wisconsin
4-H & Youth Conference
Held at the University of Wisconsin in Madison June 22 –25, 2009. Approximately 700 youth attend this educational event each summer. Participants take part in educational seminars and assemblies and meet people from across Wisconsin. They are encouraged to take what they learn and share it with others in their home communities. Qualifications: be in grades 8–10 by 10/1/08. Conference registration fee (approximately $200) and bus fee is paid by the Adult Leaders Association. Delegates are responsible for additional seminar fees. Delegates are required to attend a county delegation orientation session. Learn more about 4-H & Youth Conference.
Citizenship Washington Focus
Held one week in June or July 2009 in Washington, DC. CWF is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth from across the country. Participants stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington, D.C., participating in a week-long program focused toward enriching young people’s lives by providing activities for them which broadens their appreciation and respect for themselves and others in their world. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events. Qualifications: be in grades 10–12 by 10/1/08 and have attended 4-H & Youth Conference or Superior Days. Total cost for the trip is approximately $1,000 with the Adult Leaders Association paying the full cost. Delegates are required to attend an audioconference orientation session. Learn more about CWF.
National 4-H Congress
Held November 27-December 1, 2009 in Atlanta, GA. About 1300 youth from
across the nation attend this quality, educational and cross-cultural
experience designed to address the needs and issues of youth.
The program combines plenary sessions, seminars, discussion groups,
and a service learning experience. Qualifications: be in grades
10–12 at time of selection and have attended CWF. Maximum
age of 18 as of January in year of travel. Trip cost is approximately
$950 with the Adult Leaders Association paying the full cost.

Outstanding Older Youth Award
This award is given at 4-H Achievement Night in October. Awarded
to 4-H members who have shown the most achievement and leadership
development throughout the past year.
Key Award
This is the highest State 4-H Award possible and is given to
the individual(s) who has achieved the most in the past year
in terms of club work, county level participation, interview
score and record book.
After returning from an award trip, delegates are expected to
make a presentation to the Adult Leaders Association as well
as their club.
