February-"How Safe is Our Water?"
“Water, water everywhere…” Oops! What is happening to our water? Clean water to drink, cook with, and bathe in may be something of the past due to contamination, drought and other issues.
We’ll learn about how safe our water is, how to reduce waste of this precious resource and how environmental practices affect our water supply for future consumption and recreation.

March-"Global Warming"
The issue of global warming promises to be the great story of the 21st century as it will affect every one of us, our children and their children. Initially this topic came to light in 1987.
We’ll learn about the scientific facts behind the “warming phenomenon” as well as hands-on actions each of us can take to create a more positive outcome.

Italy has a rich history dating back to the time of the Roman Empire. Catholicism has been a significant part of Italian history for centuries. But today Italy is diverse and ranks 6th in the world market economy. You’ll learn about Italian history, geography, culture and food, so save the date for this Special Interest Meeting.

September-Club Reorganization
After summer break, September club time should be a time to “Re-energize” for the busy fall, elect club officers for 2009, have a “get re-acquainted” potluck, invite potential new club members, and have a fun show–and- tell time “What I did during summer vacation.”

October-"Blueberry Delights"
Blueberries are known as a “functional food” because it is one of the best fruits to provide antioxidants in the diet to help prevent disease and promote good health. But the great taste and “cooking creativity” blueberries provide are a bonus.
You’ll learn more about the good health and tasty delights of blueberries (there will be a charge for materials for this project).

Creating festive environments for the holiday season doesn’t need to be expensive or an overwhelming time commitment. You will learn some new and easy tricks for home decorating.
This meeting is a Special Interest Meeting that every member may attend. Each member will make and take home a holiday project (there will be a charge for materials for this project).
