WNEP (Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program) education is supported by the USDA Food Stamp Program, UW-Extension, FoodShare Wisconsin, and local partners.In Wisconsin, FoodShare can help provide a healthy diet. Waukesha County UW-Extension Nutrition Education Program
Program Mission:
Empower limited income individuals and families to make healthy
food choices by providing practical and reliable nutrition, food
safety and budgeting information.
What do we teach?
All of the Nutrition Education offerings emphasize easy to prepare,
low cost, nutritious food selections, and safe food preparation.
We teach nutrition using the USDA dietary guidelines, which stress
eating a variety of foods with plenty of grains, fruits, and vegetables
while limiting fat, sugar, sodium and alcohol. In addition, we
teach strategies for stretching the food dollar or food stamps.
Areas of Specialization:
The Waukesha County Nutrition Education Program targets limited
income families and individuals. Program focus is on:
- Practical and Reliable Information on Nutrition, Food Safety
and Budgeting
- Food Buying and Resource Management Practices to Insure Having
Enough Food to Eat
- Maximize Family and Individual Nutrition to Reduce Health
