4-H PLEDGE, EMBLEMS AND SYMBOLS
We’re glad you are interested in Waupaca County 4-H! So
that you’ll become acquainted with some of the symbols
that say “4-H”, here are some of the more common
ones.
4-H Pledge
Every club member and leader should be able to repeat from memory
the National 4-H Club pledge. The pledge is said while recognizing
the 4-H flag.
I pledge: My Head to clearer thinking,
My Heart to greater loyalty,
My Hands to larger service, and
My Health to better living
For my club, my community, my country
And my world.
In repeating the pledge, members raise their right hands to
their foreheads when they say “my HEAD to clearer thinking.” They
lower them to their heart as they say “my HEART to greater
loyalty.” At the line “my HANDS to larger service” they
extend their hands, palm upward, and at the last lines, they
stand with the hands at their sides.
It is appropriate to begin or end 4-H club meetings and events
with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the 4-H Pledge.
4-H Emblem
The 4-H Emblem is a green four-leaf clover with a white “H” on
each leaflet. The H’s stand for HEAD, HEART, HANDS, and
HEALTH. The emblem is protected by copyright.
