to benefit the community.

Knitting and sewing headwear (caps, hats, and headbands)
for chemotherapy and radiation patients. Stitches of Love Links

Mission Statement
- We will make headwear FREE of charge for cancer patients
as an on-going project and will distribute them though local
hospitals
- We strive to recruit additional volunteers to help make headwear.
- We aim to obtain additional funding for supplies.
History Our HCE Stitches of Love project
began in January 2002 with information obtained from the American
Cancer Society and local hospitals. We learned there is
a HUGE need to serve cancer patients.
Volunteer HCE members and friends helped with tracing patterns
and cutting fabric at several workshops, and helped with sewing
and knitting caps in the comfort of their homes. Based
on recipient feedback, we (HCE) have designed several headwear
patterns for the project.
To date we have made and supplied over 700 headwear products
to:

- Fox Valley Hematology - Appleton
- Fox Valley Hematology - Oshkosh
- Mercy Medical Center - Oshkosh
- Aurora Health Center - Oshkosh
- American Cancer Society Regional Office - DePere
- Local requests from relatives and friends
We continue our labor of love for people we may never meet -
so they may look and feel good about themselves.
