Drinking Water Analysis Results and Educational Program
Wednesday, November 5, 2003
1:30 p.m. Saratoga Town Hall
6:30 p.m. Grand Rapids Municipal Building
If you cannot attend, we will mail you your results.
Residents in the Grand Rapids and Saratoga areas can have their
drinking water quality analyzed in a special one-time program.
Residents will have their water tested for bacteria, nitrate,
pH, iron, hardness, copper, lead, magnesium, calcium and manganese.
The cost for these tests will be $42. The cost would normally
be much higher but the Program allows for low group pricing.
Water samples are sent to a lab for analysis, according to Peter
Manley, Wood County Extension Resource Agent. Because the testing
program is offered through the county, there are no follow-up
sales calls about water conditioners.
Sample bottles may be purchased at one of six locations: Saratoga
Grocery, Saratoga Mini Mart, John’s Food Ranch, Grand Rapids
Municipal Building, Wood County Health Department, Wood County
Extension Office.
Sample bottles may be purchased from October 1 to October
22, 2003. The testing date is Wednesday, October 22. Results
will
be explained
at educational meetings on Wednesday, November 5 at 1:30 p.m.
at the Saratoga Town Hall and at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Rapids
Town Hall.
The chemicals being tested for are contaminants most likely
to be found in South Wood County area wells, according to Nancy
Eggleston, Wood County Environmental Health Supervisor.
People with questions about the Grand Rapids – Saratoga
Water Testing Program are encouraged to call Peter Manley, Wood
