4-H DAIRY BOWL
January 26, 2008 - Portage, WI
Portage High School - 9:45 am Registration
Entries are due Jan. 10 for the 2008 Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl competition. The event will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Portage High School in Portage, Wis., starting at 9:45 a.m.
Dairy Quiz Bowl competitors answer questions about dairy topics, including facts about breeds, genetics, health concerns, nutrition, and many other topics. Teams compete in a double elimination format by giving oral answers to questions posed by a moderator. Each match has both an individual and toss-up question round.
The four-member teams are divided into three age divisions. Junior teams comprise members who are under 14 years of age as of Jan.1, 2008. The senior division is for members who are all 14 years of age or older but not yet over 18 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2008. A mixed team must include at least one member from each age division.
Competition in the 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl encourages 4-H members to develop a more complete knowledge of dairy animals and related subjects. This contest provides an educational dairy program for all dairy project members, including those who may not own a dairy project animal, and provides a way to develop alertness and self-confidence.
Contest rules and registration forms are available from your county UW-Extension office or on this website.
