Housing -
All overnight campers should report to and will be housed in Sullivan
residance hall, which is located just off the shoreline of Lake
Mendota on the beautiful University of Wisconsin campus. The dorm
is within walking distance of all Badger Dairy Camp activities.
Badger Dairy Club camp counselors will supervise Camp dormitories.
Meals will be served at nearby Frank's Place, a campus dining facility.
Medical -
Badger Dairy campers will have access to the University Health
Services. Therefore, individual insurance coverage and emergency
medical authorization is needed.
Rules
- Individuals are required to comply with the rules and regulations
of the University of Wisconsin and University Housing. Any camper
who does not abide by these rules may be dismissed with no refund.
What to Bring
- Campers need to bring, in addition to normal clothing items:
clipping clothing, work shoes, clipping and fitting supplies if
available, clipboard, towels, toiletries and clothing for sports
activities (i.e. volleyball, swimming, bowling)

Ted
Halbach, Camp Director
UW-Madison
Extension Youth Specialist and Dairy Cattle Evaluation Instructor.
Ted came to Madison from Marana Dairy Farms of Arizona where he
developed a nationally recognized herd of Brown Swiss and Holstein
cows. He is in his sixth year
at the university. He coaches the UW Dairy Judging Team and teaches
dairy cattle evaluation classes.
His judging teams have won eight collegiate contests over the last
three seasons including the 2002 and 2005 National Championships.
Ted is a
past board of director of the Holstein Association USA and has
judged 14 state and regional Holstein shows.
Other Instructors
Dr.
David Dickson has worked with six national championship collegiate
teems and over 50 teams that won the oral reasons competition in
collegiate competition. The team's solid standing during the last
thirty years is a testament to the superior coaching and mentorship
of Emeritus Professor David Dickson, whose resume reflects his own
achievements in dairy cattle judging. Dave is a world-renowned dairy
judge of all breeds having judged numerous international and national
shows. His reputation is the outcome of enthusiastic work in agricultural
education and the dairy industry, exposure in farm media and the
personal relationships with students and colleagues.
Corey Geiger is in his second year as a member
of the Badger Dairy Camp. He is an associate editor at Hoard's Dairyman
and is actively involved in youth outreach activities for the magazine.
Corey, a UW-Madison graduate and All-American dairy cattle judge
while in college is the superintendent of the National 4-H Dairy
Cattle Judging Contest and serves as a collegiate contest official
at the North American International Livestock Exposition. Respected
by show persons of all breeds, he was recently appointed as the
secretary of the Klussendorf Society. Corey is also a member of
the Holstein Foundation's advisory panel for successful Young Dairy
Leader Institute program.
