Communications is the Key to Success

This teaching outline and PowerPoint work off of the communications information developed by Sharon DeVaney of Purdue University and her video clips from Who Will Get Grandpa's Farm. This teaching also incorporates a component of Larry Swain's People Styles Personality Assessment. While it does not go in-depth on personality assessment it does allow participants to learn about the different styles and how they process information and communicate. There is also a group activity that uses two scenarios. Participants are asked to identify communication components discussed from the PowerPoint and to outline how one character in the scenario could frame the discussion and address the conflict the family is facing.
