Farm and Risk Management (FARM) Team Description

The FARM Team consists of UW-Extension agents and specialists that provide research-based farm business management information and decision-making tools to farmers and agribusinesses. The team’s purpose is to help Wisconsin farmers improve business profitability and lifestyles through informed decision-making. Management topic areas include: strategic planning; financial management; business agreements; beginning farmer programs; dairy and grain price risk management; human resource management; farm succession and retirement planning.

The uncertainty about the depth and length of this current recession, along with the sudden and dramatic effects it's had on agricutlural makrets, may provide challenges to Wisconsin's Farmers.  This new website provides information about farming during these difficult times.

Strategies for Dairy Producers to Weather the Economic Downturn - factsheet by the Wisconsin Farm Center.  The Center offers many free services  for Wisconsin farmers including mediation, veterinary diagnostics, mental health counseling vouchers, farm business planning and financial counseling, and more.  We can be reached via the Farmers' Assistance Hotline, 800-942-2474.
