PROCESS FACILITATION

The People, Partnerships and Communities Information Sheets Series provides guidance to the members of community groups working on resource conservation issues. The sheets present clear, concise, information on effective current practice in working with people and communities. The ideas have generic application beyond conservation venues. There are currently 38 topics available in PDF format and more under construction. Sample topics include Running Effective Meetings, Managing Conflict, Working with Community Leaders, Gathering Community Information, and Prioritizing Issues

Iowa State University Extension provides a few brief resources that outline procedures for facilitating problem solving, goal setting, needs assessment, value clarification etc. for community groups. You will find their summaries of these types of tools at Self-Help Resources for Community Groups

The School to Work Learning and Information Center has an online Handbook on Workshop and Group Facilitation. Their handbook can help you strengthen your group process facilitation skills in "Opening work sessions, Leading group discussions, Setting up and working with small groups, Flipcharting, Helping groups reach consensus, and Resolving conflict. Ideas apply across a wide range of group work contexts.
