Individual Plan of Work
The Department of Family Development has clearly stated expectations that its members will write and utilize a POW and present it in numerous ways throughout the faculty member’s career.
Some of those expectations are referenced below:
- Articles of Faculty Governance, Appendix II.B - the UWEX Tenure Portfolio Contents require “a multi-year program of work” and the Articles of Faculty Governance, Appendix II.C require “a multi-year program of work…or a summary based on those documents”.
- Department of Family Development, Appendix B.2 – Peer Review Form (for probationary faculty) asks “How is creative, intellectual work woven into the program plan…”
- Department of Family Development, Appendix C.2 – Abbreviated Portfolio Contents for Promotion to the Rank of Assistant Professor requires “a multi-year program of work or a summary based on that document”.
- Department of Family Development, Appendix E.2 – Portfolio contents for Promotion to the Rank of Professor requires “One Multi-Year Plan of Work, Past Three Annual Plans of Work and Annual Accomplishment Reports…”
- Department of Family Development, Appendix G.2 – Content for Submission (Tenured Faculty Review) includes the topic for discussion “Looking back on the last five years, what did you hope to accomplish? (Overview of goals, outcomes, etc.)
- Department of Family Development, Appendix G.3 – Tenured Faculty Review Summary of Comments asks the TFR Committee for identified strengths of major programs, including “1. Leadership and scholarship in program development and/or research programs.
- Department of Family Development, Appendix H – Roles and Responsibilities Faculty Mentoring Teams directs teams to provide guidance to the faculty member in the development of the “Annual and multi-year plans of work”.
POW Examples
Please visit our POW examples. The POW represent colleagues at different stages of their career and demonstrating various ways to approach the plan. Both annual and multi-year plans are available. The POW selected were limited to the plans sent to me for your DFD file. I hope this provides some useful examples for you.
