as a grassroots initiative responding to a locally identified need
in response to a funding requirement or opportunity

Mission/Purpose
Our mission is to address the hunger needs of Iowa County, to support our local food pantires, and to increase awareness of local and global hunger issues by acting as a bridge that spans the gap between what local government can do and what individuals can do.

Members interact primarily for the purpose of exchanging information and communication.

networking a variety of organizations/individuals working in the area of hunger prevention (* primary project)
networking emergency food providers in the county (* primary project)
organizing food drives to supply emergency food providers (* primary project)
promoting/coordinating food collection and distribution other than food drives (through Hunt for the Hungry, Plant a Row for the Hungry, gleaning projects, etc) (* primary project)
promoting/coordinating the Senior or WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (* primary project)
raising awareness of hunger and food insecurity (* primary project)
