Promotional Materials

A successful marketing campaign is often the key to success for many programs. The resources on this page are useful to let people know about the importance of breakfast and that the School Breakfast Program is a convenient, affordable, healthy option for students. Be sure to pay attention to who your target audience is and the target audience of the promotional piece. Happy marketing!

Eat Breakfast
Display for adults with the objective that participants will choose a strategy for including eating a daily healthy breakfast for healthful living

What’s for Breakfast
Display for Parents/Caregivers and their children (or grandchildren). In English and Spanish. Display goal for learner: To learn about some kinds of fruits/juices to include at breakfast and to learn basic food components of a healthy breakfast, especially fruit.

Newspaper Articles and Press Releases

“Schools receive grants to bring breakfast to students” (PDF file)
Heather Harvey and Jo Futrell released this in November 2005 to announce those schools that received Kohl breakfast grants to start a School Breakfast Program or to improve an existing breakfast program.

“School lunch program stretches food budgets” (PDF file)
Ione Meoska released this in September 2005 to inform people about the money that could be saved by participating in school meals, both breakfast and lunch.

“Breakfast, an important start to the school day”
Heather Harvey and Jo Futrell released this in August 2005 to document the research behind the benefits of breakfast and that the school breakfast program is one option for students to have a healthy breakfast.

“Breakfast is important, at home or at school”
Susan Nitzke and Jo Futrell prepared this in November 2003 about the importance of breakfast. Add in your local statistics and a sentence about School Breakfast Week and local events.

“Breakfast provides kids with a jump start on learning”
Susan Nitzke prepared this in September 1997, but it is still valuable now, however be sure to update the reference to the Food Guide Pyramid to MyPyramid.
