GRAND Overview
The GRAND (Grandparents/Relatives Raising and Nurturing Dependent children Resource Guide) provides vital information concerning issues grandparents and relatives will encounter as they assume parenting roles and responsibilities for their grandchildren and/or relatives.
GRAND was originally developed by the Wisconsin Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Partnership, a collaboration between the Bureau of Aging & Long Term Care Resources, Grandparents United for Children's Rights, Inc., and the University of Wisconsin-Extension, in 2001 with updates in 2006 and 2008. GRAND was partially funded by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Division of Children and Family Services. Numerous state and local agencies/organizations contributed to the information in GRAND or reviewed its content for accuracy.
The original format of GRAND was for each chapter to begin with Frequently Asked Questions followed by county specific resources. The chapters of GRAND are now available with county speciific information found at this website.
The University of Wisconsin-Extension presents information in the Grandparents/Relative Raising and Nurturing Grandchildren (GRAND) Resource Guide as a service to those who are raising grandchildren or other kin or to those who are working with them. Although every effort has been made to ensure accuracy and reliability, the UW-Extension and contributors make no warranty or guarantee concerning the accuracy or reliability of the content in it.
