National Network for Health - One of five CYFERNet member networks. The Network (NNH) supports and empowers children, youth, families and communities as they make decisions about health, safety, health care and healthier lifestyles. NNH began in 1996 through the collaborative efforts of 22 land grant universities and the United States Department of Agriculture.

NNH's home page is easily accessible using either graphics-based or text-only protocols. User-friendly, every NNH page presents frames with "hot buttons" to easily navigate the contents or link to other relevant resources on the World Wide Web. The home page includes information on NNH's mission and guiding principles, educational products, work group information, collaborators and contacts, guidelines for submitting documents, and links to health and safety resources. For more information about NNH, send an e-mail message to nnh@oz.oznet.ksu.edu or call (202) 720-7947.

Community Decisions for Health - The Decisions for Health National Initiative was established in 1993 as a partnership among CSREES, the Cooperative Extension System, and the Office of Rural Health Policy (US Dept of Health and Human Services). The Initiative focused on three major goals:

  1. to empower people to make informed personal decisions for their individual and family health;
  2. to empower individuals and communities to make decisions which enhance accessibility to and availability of health care resources; and
  3. to build community capacity to assess systematically health and health care needs, and to develop strategies to meet those identified needs.
