Highlights of Current Assignments and Programs
- Mary is a member of the Strategic Planning: Local Government and Community Applications Professional Development UW-Extension, Cooperative Extension teaching team. She joined this team in l998. In 2008, the team developed and taught a new 2 day course titled: Community Capacity Building: An Introduction to Planning. The team is scheduled to conduct a 4 day Strategic Planning: Introduction and Practice session December 2009.
- Mary is a member of the Family Policy professional development subcommittee of the Building Community Connections with Families state FL team. The subcommittee conducted a session titled Developing Relationships with and Becoming an Educational Resource for Local Policymakers in April 2009. Two additional professional development sessions are being planned for the future: 1) Assessing the Family Impact of Policies and Programs (tentatively scheduled for 2010) and 2) Conducting Family Impact Seminars for Local Policymakers (tentatively scheduled for 2011).
- Mary and Gay Eastman are co-facilitators of the FLP Purpose Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to clarify the purpose and importance of the work of UW-Extension’s Family Living Programs in preparation for the next 5-7 years. Mary and Gay are meeting with a planning workgroup consisting of Family Living Educators, WNEP Coordinators, and FL State Specialists.
