COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Mission: The Public Policy Education Committee shall initiate and carry out a program designed to:

  • Educate WEAFCS members about their role and responsibilities in public policy issues.
  • Encourage members to keep informed of public policy issues.
  • Keep members informed of pending legislation.
  • Provide expert witness for informational purposes only on appropriate public policy issues on behalf of WEAFCS.
  • Promote the Public Issues Leadership Development Conference.

The Public Policy Education Committee meets face-to-face at the annual WAEP conference to review the year's accomplishments, set annual goals, and establish task forces to carry out the goals. At that time a chair, chair-elect, and secretary are elected for two year terms. Approximately three ETN meetings or educational opportunities are held throughout the year for all committee members to participate. A scholarship is available for a member to attend the annual Public Issues Leadership Development Conference, sponsored by the Joint Council of Extension Professionals and held in Washington, D.C.
