Site Facilitator Roles and Responsibilities

Site facilitators are critical to the success of a video satellite conference.  Here are some hints and time-lines to ensure your success.

Roles and responsibilities of a site facilitator:

6 months before:

*Register the site and pay the site registration or license fee.

*Consider developing a local steering committee to help promote the video satellite program and assist on the day of the program.

*Sites are permitted to charge a fee to participants to recover the costs of offering the program locally.  Determine if there will be a local registration fee for the program. All local registration fees are the property of the local site.

*Market and promote the program to encourage  local registrations.  Materials will be provided to assist with the local marketing effort.

*Secure meeting room with the necessary satellite equipment.

*Regularly consult  the video satellite conference web page to keep up to date with the program’s print materials.

3 months before:

*Attend one of the site facilitator training sessions.

*Determine pre and post learning activities with the local planning committee.  The site facilitator materials will provide suggested activities for the program.

*Read the site facilitators materials and complete items suggested to ensure the program’s success.

*Consult regularly the video satellite conference web page to keep up to date with the program’s print materials.

Day of the program:

*Consult the video satellite conference web page before the program for any last minute instructions.

*Greet and register local participants as they arrive at the program.

*Enjoy the program!

*Distribute video conference evaluations to participants.

After the program:

*Tabulate results of the completed evaluation for your site.

*Complete the site facilitators evaluation.

*Send the tabulated and site facilitator's evaluation results to:

Training available:

A site facilitator needs to feel comfortable providing leadership to the learning process.  We have found individuals who are good teachers and organized make excellent site facilitators.  The attached handout, Enhancing the education impact of satellite video conferences at the county level  (the link for this will be available soon) shares how an individual can be a successful site facilitator.  We are also offering a two hour telephone training session before the video satellite program.  When you register as a site facilitator, you will  select one of the training dates.

  The dates are:
  December 15, 1998   9:00-11:00  a.m. CST
  December 17, 1998   1:00-3:00  p.m. CST
  January 5, 1999         9:00-11:00  a.m. CST
