 Type of Appointment:

This position is a fixed-term academic staff appointment in the University of Wisconsin-Extension's division of Cooperative Extension. The position is eligible for benefits provided to state of Wisconsin employees and is subject to UW-Extension and Cooperative Extension personnel policies.  Reappointment to this position after the initial term is dependent upon performance and availability of funding.

 Purpose and Primary Focus of Position:

The Milwaukee County Nutrition Education Program is a major effort within Cooperative Extension's Family Living Programs. The aim of Family Living Programs is to enhance the quality of family and community decisions that affect the family and to increase the families' abilities to adapt to and effect change.

 This new position has a two-fold purpose: 1) to aid and support Nutrition Educators as they plan and conduct high quality lessons that meet the needs of diverse audiences and agencies 2) to assist the Nutrition Education Program Administrator in selecting and adapting teaching materials for local use, and in evaluating the effectiveness of the educational programming provided within the Milwaukee County Nutrition Education Program.  This position will observe Nutrition Educators as they teach and will provide coaching and feedback to build on the strengths of the Nutrition Educators.  The Teaching Coordinator will also provide nutrition education programming, as needed.

 Administrative Relationships:

The position is supervised by and accountable to the Milwaukee County Nutrition Education Program Administrator in consultation with the Milwaukee County Extension Director. The position is officially accountable to UW-Extension through the Milwaukee County Extension Director on all matters related to (a) program performance and job responsibilities, (b) developing effective external working relationships with clientele groups, other agencies, departments and organizations, (c) continuing professional development, (d) matters related to vacation, leave of absence, salary promotion, etc., and (e) reporting and evaluating programs to county, state and federal government as appropriate.

 Program Relationships:

This position primarily works with the Family Living program area of Cooperative Extension. Appropriate programming relationships with other program areas are encouraged.

 The position seeks counsel from appropriate Extension statewide programming units regarding subject matter and educational strategies related to carrying out the purpose of this position. The position seeks counsel from appropriate county advisory groups to determine appropriate subject matter and educational strategies needed to meet current and long-term educational needs in the county related to the purpose of the Milwaukee County Nutrition Education Program.
