As the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension has evolved into a more employee-centered organization, we have expected growth of leadership behavior from empowered department heads. Coaching has always been an important skill for managers and is a critical skill for department heads. Effective coaches make effective leaders. Coaching works to improve the performance of individuals, teams and ultimately the entire organization.
