I have been in Extension for 9 years. I am currently Unit Educator in Community and Economic Development. This is a new position for me and am currently researching opportunities and issues in housing, small businesse development and community building. Previous position was in Consumer and Family Economics. I am a native Chicagoan and consider myself a history buff with a great knowledge of Chicago communities. I am a single parent with two sons, Emilio who lives in L.A. and Ruben who is a high school student. I love to walk and enjoy cultural activities.

| Work experiences include serving eleven years as a US Army Logistics & Contracting Officer. I have managed organizations with operating budgets in excess of $9.5 million with over 500 assigned personnel. I currently work as a Community & Economic Development educator for University of Illinois Extension. My primary duties focus on serving as the Director, Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). The PTAC assists more than 165 small businesses in 32 counties in their efforts to succeed in the government contracting market. PTAC clients in the last seven years received over 2,600 separate government contracts totaling over $45 million in local economic impact. I provide educational programming in the areas of E-Commerce, business management, economic development, and marketing. I also serve as the State President for the Illinois Small Business Development Association. | ||
