I have been with the MSU Extension service for approximately 4 1/2 years. I served in a 4-H agent role for half of that time and I am currently serving as the County Extension Director in Benzie County. I have my Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University and have recently completed my Masters Degree in Administration also from Central Michigan University. Before coming to Extension I worked with local government as a Recreation Director and Parks Supervisor. I also worked with the Michigan Department of Corrections as a Programs Supervisor. My present responsibilities include program supervision, budgeting, public and personnel relations, and volunteer management. I serve as the Chair of our County Collaborative Body and assist our County Parks and Recreation Commission.

I have long been called (or "accused" of being) a "visionary". I like to create and make things happen. I have worked to do this as a CED since joining MSU Extension in 1998 and in my previous positions as president of a child advocacy organization for 4 years and as a journalist for 17 (including the last 8 as Editorial Page Editor for The Flint Journal). It is important to me that my life and career have purpose and that I make a positive difference.
