I have been with UN Cooperative Extension for over 20 years. For the last three years I have served as state program coordinator for Building Nebraska Families which is an educational developmental program for families transitioning from welfare to work. Previously I was an EFNEP/FSNEP supervisor. My husband, Rich, and I have two daughters and five grandchildren. My hobbies are reading, playing the piano and cross stitching.

Rick Koelsch is a Livestock Environmental Engineer for Departments of Biological Systems Engineering and Animal Science. He has extension and research responsibilities for livestock environmental related issues. His extension program includes leadership for a national curriculum development project titled “Livestock and Poultry Environmental Stewardship” which involved a team of 30 individuals, development and implementation of environmental assessment tools for the livestock industry, co-management of a 10 state project to pilot test Environmental Management Systems in livestock operations, and state leadership for development and implementation of a CNMP program for Nebraska producers. Koelsch’s research program is focused on whole farm nutrient balance on livestock systems and, air emissions inventory for feedlots.

Ron is an extension specialist coordinating Information Technology efforts in support of teaching, research and extension at the University of Nebraska’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. These efforts include technology support for state’s cooperative extension staff and coordinating the DEAL Lab—a collection of software developers and multi-media designers that build online learning resources. Ron is a member of the national CYFERNet Technology team and the IT advisor for the National Cybercamp development project.

Raised on a Northeast Nebraska farm, Ron began his career as an extension educator and served as a district technology specialist before moving to campus. He has a Ph.D. in agricultural economics along with B.S. and M.S. degrees in agronomy. He enjoys sports, reading (especially history and economics), computer programming and strategic video games. Ron and his wife Shirley have two sons—Kyle (17) and Todd (11) that played a combined 130+ baseball games in 2002.
