As the dairy field specialist for Northwest Iowa, I serve the dairy producers and consultants in a 20-county region. In the past 4 years, our dairy programming in this part of the state has included workshops, larger seminars, dairy advisory teams, on-farm employee training, dairy peer groups, one-on-one assistance, and newsletters. This extension position is my third career: From 1995-2000, I worked as a dairy veterinarian in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and prior to that taught English at the high school and community college levels. Experiences from both "past lives" have been helpful in dealing with the range of situations that the extension presents. When not working, I enjoy things like yardwork, taking care of a few horses, hiking/cycling/jogging, and getting together with friends and family for dinner or pizza. In other words, after work, I enjoy just about anything that doesn't involve sitting at a computer!

My primary work is computer support and developing various web/database applications. Other departments have started using parts of our applications, and we would like to create a set of cooperative systems that communicate with each other. I am having fun with my first daughter, Lauralee Rose, who was born July 21, 2004.
