GEOLOGICAL SURVEY RELEASES 1998 CALENDAR
Madison - The Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, a part of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, has released a calendar for 1998.
The wall calendar, which measures 24 x 29 inches, features a sepia photograph of High Rock from Romance Cliff in the Dells along the Wisconsin River, taken by H.H. Bennett around 1890. Bennett was a well-known photographer based at the Dells. His photographs have been exhibited in such places as the Museum of Modern Art.
The calendar is second in a series, Wisconsin in Geologic Time and sells for $6 a copy.
The Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, which has the principal assignment among state agencies to survey Wisconsin's geological, mineral, soil, and climatological resources and shares the responsibility of surveying water and biological resources, also sells technical reports and maps about the state's geology. A free list of publications is available upon request.
The calendar is available from the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, 3817 Mineral Point Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53705-5100. Mail-order customers should add $2.50 for shipping and handling.
Wisconsin residents should also include 5 or 5 1/2 percent sales tax (depending on county of residence) to the entire amount of the order. Calendars will be delivered rolled.
