NEW FARM OPTIONS

Madison - "Find Your Market First" is a consistent theme throughout the pages of a
new web page titled "New Farm Options: Your resource from UW-
Extension". Created by Cooperative Extension's Emerging Ag Markets
Team and Extension Publications, this site is a comprehensive and easy
to use resource for those interested in exploring new options or markets for
their farm operation in Wisconsin.

Ideas for diversification are presented in a data-base which contains
contact information and links to organizations and individuals already
involved in a production area.

"Starting a Value Added Farm-Food Business" contains hundreds of links
to organizations and publications that offer guidance to starting a new
farm venture. Issues covered range from how to write a marketing plan
to internet marketing, grant opportunities, food processing laws, how
to buy glass jars and much much more.

Current events and grant deadlines relating to farm businesses are listed
under "Upcoming Events, Deadlines".

A "Discussion Group and Archive" allows for producers and others to have
ongoing conversations with each other about issues of interest.
