Managed Grazing Training

grazing Prescribed/Managed Grazing (MIG) involves the intensive management of pastures for milk, meat, or wool production. MIG is more than just putting up fences in existing pastures—it involves significant pre-planning, as well as daily and seasonal pasture management.

This training program is designed for the agency staff member or consultant who will be writing grazing management plans for farmers enrolled in the EQIP cost sharing program. These training sessions provide information on the basics of managed intensive grazing, understanding the technical standards that must be followed, and what is expected within a grazing management plan. Landowners and farmers can benefit by enrolling in the introductory grazing course.
