A number of you have called or emailed me recently, to let me know that your Polycom SoundStation speakerphone isn't working properly. The good news is all of the units purchased and distributed in the summer of 2002 are under a five-year warranty. Here's the procedure you need to follow if your Polycom does not function properly, now, or in the future.

1. Call Gold Seal Warranties. The toll-free number is 877-446-5373.

2. Tell the person who answers the phone that you work for UWEX and have a Polycom SoundStation speakerphone that is not working properly and is under a five-year Gold Seal Warranty.

3. The person will ask you a few questions about the specific problem you're having and ask you for the serial number of your Polycom. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! The serial number confirms that the phone is under warranty and that you are eligible for a free replacement. You will find the serial number on the underside of the Polycom unit. It is an eight-digit number.

4. If, after a brief (5 minute) trouble shooting of your Polycom unit, your unit still isn't working properly, the Gold Seal Warranty representative will ask you for your shipping address, (assuming you've given them the correct serial number) and Gold Seal will overnight a new Polycom unit to you.

Again, the entire key to this is the Polycom unit's serial number. Without it, Gold Seal has no proof that the Polycom was part of the original purchase UWEX made a couple of years ago, and you will not receive a replacement.
