Online Class Information

How a CETS online class works:

Our online classes cover the same information as the face to face versions. One big difference is that the online class is self-paced over an extended period of time (usually 2-4 weeks). Each lesson and activity is designed to take an average of 10-20 minutes. All CETS online classes have specific starting and ending dates. These are the days that the class is available to participate in. You may take lessons, submit activities and ask questions anytime between the class dates.

You will need an Internet connection, a web browser, email address and the proper software (i.e. Publisher 2000, PowerPoint 2000, etc.) for the class.

On the first day of a class, class members will receive, via email, a web address (URL) for the class, a username and a password to access the class materials.

Successful Online Student Qualities

As a student in an online Web-based course from CETS, you will have the flexibility to communicate with your instructor and complete the self-paced lessons whenever it is convenient for you. Our courses typically run for about 4 weeks at a time, allowing you to log in and complete the coursework as your time and schedule permit. You may work from home or office, at any time of the day. Your instructor will remain in contact with you throughout the duration of the course and will be a resource for you should questions or problems arise.

Online courses are not for everyone, however. Some people need a more structured classroom environment and find they learn better when given the opportunity to spend a day away from the office at one of CETS's face-to-face courses. Other students may struggle with time management and find it hard to dedicate time to a self-paced online course.

In our experience, students are most successful in our online courses if they are:

  • Self-motivated
  • Self-disciplined
  • Self-starting
  • Able to work independently
  • Able learn from written material
  • Willing to ask questions
  • Effective time managers
  • Flexible in dealing with technology problems

We welcome you to register for one of our online courses and hope it will be an enjoyable learning experience for you.
