Write and place the ads about the position vacancyIf you've never written a job ad before, spend some time reading the classifieds for ideas. It's a good idea to contact the newspapers you want to use before you write the ads. Newspaper staff can explain word limits and how to use abbreviations to make best use of the space. You don't need to limit your ads to newspapers. Newsletters, organization flyers, and church or school bulletins may also work for you. Use the contacts listed on the database available from the Equal Opportunity & Diversity Office to stimulate your thinking. All ads must have the following information:
Keep your ads brief but to the point. Your goal is to get lots of qualified applicants, not lots of applicants. All ads and information about the position must include the following: "A criminal records review will be conducted for final candidates.
