Extend the job offerOnce you've decided which person you want to hire, speak to the District Director. The District Office will request that the UWEX Office of Human Resources conduct a Criminal Records Review on your final candidate. With the permission of the District Director, you may phone the candidate to make the offer of employment, but the official offer letter will not be sent until a criminal records review has been done. After you speak to the candidate, inform the District Office if the person has verbally accepted the position, or of additional questions. The District Office will then prepare the letter of offer. Letter of OfferUpon OK of the UWEX Human Resources Office, the District Office will prepare the letter of offer. The new employee must sign and return a copy of the letter of offer to the District Director's Office. This constitutes their agreement to accept the job offer which has been made. Newly hired WNEP nutrition educators are hired with a six-month probationary period in their contract letter. Other formsThe new employee must complete I-9 - PDF* and W-4 (Word) forms as soon as possible (it is not necessary to wait until the first day of work if he/she is able to complete the forms before that). Originals of the completed I-9 and W-4 forms must be mailed to the WNEP Office to start the process to put the new employee on the payroll. If all necessary forms and letters are received in the WNEP Office by the 10th day of the month, the new employee will receive a paycheck at the end of that month. |
