Testimonials

Here's what past participants have said about their experiences

What a phenomenal experience! I cannot believe the two years has gone by already! The program creates an incredible public space to debate and discuss issues in a very respectful yet challenging forum. I do not know of any other place where I have experienced such a great diversity of people tackling such a diversity of issues in so many ways. The challenges this program presented me with came from areas I didn’t expect, but I know for certain I’m a better person as a result of both the challenges and the support that I got to face them.   Finally, the people we have met have been incredibly inspiring. Dennis Deery, Group X, Menominee.

I feel more compelled now that I have attained some new skills and information to take a leadership role that I might not have done before. I also saw time and again - the difference that one individual can make if they put their mind to it. It has been a wonderful experience!
Cheryl Hancock, Group VIII, Holmen

WRLP is better than grad school. It's better than taking a community college class. It's the most intense, diverse education that you can get and it's affordable. WRLP mentors you in leadership. That is something you will never find in any secondary education program. A successful rural community project doesn't depend on finding the right person, it depends on being the right person. WRLP teaches you how to be the right person. -- Peggie James, Group IX, Dodgeville

I was allowed the opportunity to meet wonderful people who were committed to making a difference in Wisconsin. I came to understand the power of a “committed core” to influencing change and policy. – Jane Barnett, Group IV, Verona

This program has done more for me than any other program or education class I have previously been involved in. Thank you to WRLP!
Yolanda Voigt, Group VIII, Wausau

I like the freedom in taking a risk. Rural Leadership helps you take that risk.
Linda Murray, Group IX, Madison

It is so energizing to be around 30 positive people! No matter how tired or stressed out I was before a seminar, I always came back from each one so energized.
Sue Larson, Group IX, Humbard

The Program provided me with the broad perspective and outlook so that I'm involved not only on my local level but statewide. I look beyond our immediate boundaries. You receive inspiration and motivation from other leaders.
Connie Loden, Group VI, Wisconsin Rapids

WRLP taught me that to be a leader is to have vision and to get people to work together; it's not that you have to call attention to yourself. The critical piece of leadership is making a difference at the time it needs to be done, and do it so well that when you're no longer involved, those things continue to happen.
Anita Genrich, Group II, Adams

The Wiscsonsin Rural Leadership Program rebuilt me from the ground up.
Mary Housner, VII

Rural Leadership has demonstrated to me the value of broadening my world by connecting with others who are not regularly part of my circle of influence -- who come from diverse perspectives, backgrounds and regions or countries
Linda Halley, Group VIII
