Graduation

Group IX participants laughed, hugged, shed a few tears, sang (naturally), and spoke with fond memories about their two-year journey during their graduation ceremony held in Mosinee on July 13. The event was well attended by families, alumni, board members, and new Group X participants.

The event was kicked off by Masters of Ceremonies, John Dreier and Becky Levzow. Connie Loden, WRLP Board President next welcomed the group, followed by the national anthem lead by Alan Crossley and invocation by Corey Kuchta. During graduation, the WRLPAA honored an alumni for outstanding leadership. The 2002 Outstanding Alumni Award was presented to Sandi Cihlar. Next, Cheri Johnson recognized participant sponsors and seminar chairs. Each participant then walked on stage to receive his or her WRLP alumni pin and graduation certificate. Bill Flease, Brian Herr, Peggie James, Casey Langan, and Marty Stanton did a wonderful job sharing their reflections with the group. Carolyn Betz did not leave a dry eye in the crowd for her wonderful Power Point presentation that she put together of the two-year journey. And finally, Pat Carlson and her new husband, Mike, shared their music with everyone. It was truly a wonderful grand finale.

Participants graciously donated items for an auction and raised over $1600 for the program. In the true spirit of Group IX, they challenged the group as a whole to raise an additional $600 for the program during the course of the day. And that they did and even surpassed their goal. They coined this the "Group IX Challenge" and plans are already underway to "challenge" future groups to beat their goal.

It is with great pride that WRLP recognizes the following 27 men and women as they go forth to serve in their communities.
