Group IX
Health Care Seminar
The Health Care Seminar for Group IX was held in the Beaver Dam
area, July 17-20, 2001. Seminar Chairs, Ruth Lindegarde, RN of CHD
Associates and WRLP alumni Group VIII, and Bruce Kraus, M.D. of Cornucopian
Health and WRLP alumni Group IV led participants through a process
to better understanding those things that impact community health.
They examined how they as leaders can be involved in creating a healthier
community and be more informed regarding good personal health.
They engaged in a process for assessing the health of the Dodge
county area by hearing from key experts on the state of health in
Wisconsin. They visited with 40 groups and many individuals throughout
the area including Beaver Dam, Watertown, Horicon, Juneau, Waupun,
Fox Lake, and Columbus. Through these visits they gathered information
and developed a first impression of the health of the area communities.
To close out their days of study, they invited leaders from the area
to a presentation of their findings.

Group IX participants, Bill Flease and Mark Brodziski participate
in examination of their individual health.

the seminar. Pictured left to right are Group IX participants, Bill
Flease, Doug Mueller, Brian Herr, Tom Weston, Alumni Tom Breunig
and Seminar Chair Ruth Lindegarde.

Participants enjoyed a trip through the Horicon Marsh
one beautiful afternoon of the seminar, examining how the health
of our environment impacts our personal and community health.

Group IX participant, Gerry Traczyk, points out key
issues that surfaced in their assessment of the area's community
health.
