2009 e-Poster Session

Implementing an online curriculum utilizing the reverse lecture/homework paradigm

Presenter Susan Lehman, Program Director, Clinical Laboratory Science Program, School of Health Sciences, College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic

Abstract Mayo Clinic recently developed a new 43-credit curriculum in Clinical Laboratory Science, utilizing a blended model of traditional and online instruction. The curricular model is underscored by transactional distance theory (Moore, 1983) and implements the "reverse lecture-homework paradigm". Students complete didactic curriculum asynchronously as homework via online lectures and participate in daily lab lessons in the traditional format.
