2009 e-Poster Session

Student perception of classroom community in online and resident courses

Presenter Robert Vavala, Graduate Assistant, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, , University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Abstract Students' level of success in college courses is greatly impacted by their feelings of belonging to a community. What do students think are the major factors in creating a sense of community? Are those the same factors that instructors try to create? Results of a survey of three freshmen-level college courses taught via distance and face-to-face will be discussed in this session.
