Outstanding Writer or Scholar in Distance Education
Nominees are advanced by the editors of The American Journal of Distance Education after publication in the Journal.  The recipient is then selected in conjunction with reviewers from the Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning and University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty.

Outstanding Practitioner in Distance Education

This biennial award is open to distance education professionals who reside and practice distance education in North America and whose work exemplifies exceptional achievement in the application and advancement of distance education techniques, meanings, and understanding. A review committee representing the Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning and the University of Wisconsin-Madison will consider nominations in the Spring of even-numbered years for the award to be presented at that year's Distance Teaching & Learning Conference.
